For the first time in six years, the Town of Harbour Grace will be celebrating it’s pirate and aviation history during an upcoming festival.
The Pirates to Pilots Festival is making a comeback for the first time since 2017 and will celebrate notable events in the town’s history, starting with a Landing of the Pirates day to recognize the arrival of Peter Easton in 1600s.
On July 24, the town will celebrate the birthday of one of the world’s most influential pilots—Amelia Earhart. Earhart made a stop in Harbour Grace in 1932 when she became the first female to make a solo flight across the Atlantic.
The festival runs from July 21 and closes on July 29 with the 161st running of the Harbour Grace Regatta—the second oldest continuous sporting event in North America.
