Two female hockey players from this province have been invited to Hockey Canada’s summer camps.
Abby Newhook of St. John’s is one of 23 athletes selected for summer showcase camp in St. Catherine’s, Ontario ahead of a three-game series against the United States in August.
Newhook, the younger sister of Alex, has made a name for herself over the past few years and put up a career high 19 goals this past season for Boston College.
Representing the province in the under-18 division is 15-year-old Leah Wicks of St. John’s.
The young defender, who attends the hockey prep school Shattuck-St. Mary’s, will play for a chance to represent Canada at an upcoming tournament in New York state.
