A 54-year-old man is dead and multiple others were seriously injured following a head-on collision in central Newfoundland.
At around 4:00 p.m. on the TCH around 40 kilometres west of Badger, a car and SUV were travelling in opposite directions and swerved to avoid a moose, catching each other head-on. A third vehicle, a truck, collided with one of the vehicles from behind.
The driver of the car was pronounced dead at the scene. The other occupants of the car and the SUV were sent to hospital in Grand Falls-Windsor with serious injuries. The occupants of the truck were treated for minor injuries.
Emergency services from Grand Falls-Windsor, Springdale, Triton and Lewisporte attended the scene.
A collision analyst and the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner have been engaged.
The investigation continues.
