Premier Andrew Furey will deliver a formal apology to former students of the residential school system later this week.
Delivery of the apology will take place on the eve of the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, and is being done in collaboration with the NunatuKavut Community Council.
Former Premier Dwight Ball first committed to making the apology back in 2017.
The event will take place at the Cartwright Community Centre tomorrow at 1 p.m.
Furey will be joined by Labrador Affairs Minister Lisa Dempster, and NunatuKavut Community Council president Todd Russell for the apology.
Government reaffirms their commitment to delivering apologies to former students of the residential school system, and will work with other Indigenous governments and organizations on their respective apologies.
