All staff of the building evacuated safely, and firefighters are currently tearing out walls to get at the seat of the fire.
Deputy Fire Chief Roger Hounsell says it’s been a very busy day for their crews.
“We’ve had a very busy morning” he told reporters. “Hats off to all our crews, they’ve done an outstanding job at both locations.” He says they’ve now gained the upper hand on both the downtown and the Akita Equipment fires.
VOCM News is on scene and will have further information as it becomes available.
