The provincial government is giving $50,000 to the Provincial Food Network.
The funds come in support of the Food Producers Forum, which aims to build a network of sites across the province to create a more direct system of food productions, distribution and education.
The Food Producers Forum says the province has seen a recent food emergency created by factors that include rising food prices, lack of food donations and an established pattern of food waste, which in turn make affordable, healthy food harder to access for Canadians.
