The CEO of the NL Autism Society says very little progress is being made in addressing gaps in the school system for children on the spectrum.
Paul Walsh says they deal with a plethora of issues—from bussing to supports in the classroom.
He told VOCM Open Line with Paddy Daly that it all comes down to the lack of resources available in the K-12 system.
He says many children on the spectrum require help from student assistants, which are few and far between. Catering to a child who may need one-on-one guidance can be even more challenging if the assistant is working with multiple children.
