The popularity of an online store connecting people on the province’s west coast with local products continues to grow. That’s according to Richard Butt, the Program Coordinator at the Western NL Food Hub in Corner Brook.
Butt says the Hub began as a pilot project in July and has taken off since then. He says they’re offering everything from local produce, fresh meats and seafood to non-food items to nearly 1,400 customers based all over the west coast.
He says more and more businesses are looking to jump on board.
He says at first, they were reaching out to producers, but it’s the opposite now. They currently offer products from 23 producers, all of whom have seen an increase in sales since joining the Hub.
Butt says they’re also hoping to expand their reach on the west coast by introducing pick-up points in areas like Deer Lake and Stephenville.
