Bridges to Hope has seen a “dramatic” increase in food bank usage in recent years.
Executive Director Jody Williams says, as an example, they keep track of how many people are using the food bank for the first time.
Last month they had 75 first-time users; in 2019 it took them one full year to reach that number.
Williams says their biggest users are children and seniors.
He says they used to help about 150 children per month through parents going in to pick up food.
Last month, they had 322 children out of 1,100 clients. He says this time of year they see a huge increase in the number of seniors as well.
