An over-the-counter children’s medication used to alleviate pain and fever is being pulled off shelves due to overdose concerns.
Health Canada has issued a recall on 100 mL bottles of Pediatrix Acetaminophen Oral Solution after routine tests revealed higher than acceptable levels of acetaminophen.
Bottles sold with the lot number MC0079 and expiry of August 2025 should not be consumed.
The health agency says children are at higher risk of overdose given their size. Symptoms of overdose include nausea, vomiting, stomach pain, fatigue, and loss of appetite.
