The Memorial University Lecturers’ Union says after almost ten months of negotiations, it believes continuation of the conciliation process is impossible at this time.
LUMUN spokesperson Alison Coffin accuses the university of repeatedly stalling progress, and they believe MUN has the capacity to offer them a fair deal.
“The university has absolutely refused to show us the money” says Coffin. Union negotiators presented their financial package to the university in November, and they have yet to get a response or see a counter proposal. “This week we realized that the university was not going to do that,” Coffin states.
Coffin says until such time as a financial proposal is provided to the union, they can no longer participate in what they say is “a conciliation process that is being used as an obvious delay tactic.”
