Over 20 centimetres of snow has fallen and more is still on the way.
The eastern half of the island has been slammed by snow and high winds, causing nightmarish driving conditions and virtually shutting down that side of Newfoundland and Labrador.
David Neil, meteorologist with the Gander Weather Office, says despite a few lulls in the weather, some significant snow is still set for tonight.
He says despite some slower periods, the storm is still continuing.
Neil says although the storm has been going since early this morning in some areas, its still the early stages of the snowfall, with 40-60 cm forecasted.
Heavy bands of snow are still to come, meaning most areas affected are still on that pace.
