The Avalon Peninsula is in the midst of yet another blast of winter.
The snow started lightly falling overnight before intensifying around daybreak.
Environment Canada Meteorologist Tiffany Cheeks says snowfall totals are still expected to reach between 10 and 20 cm. Winds will also be a factor, with wind gusts around 70 km/h for most, with gusts around 100 km/h possible over the southeastern Avalon.
She says snow could be falling at a rate of up to 3 cm per hour. That, combined with strong winds will create a “dirty” morning.
Cheeks says things will taper off pretty quickly this afternoon, but the winds will persist at around 70 km/h through the overnight hours. She says there could also be some snow squalls overnight.
