Enhanced cardiac and stroke care is being expanded across the province in a move that cardiologist Dr. Sean Connors calls “transformative.”
The improvements include EVT (endovascular thrombectomy), a procedure to remove stroke causing blot clots from eligible patients, Increased use of clot-busting drugs to meet national standards, and the expanded use of virtual heart failure management.
Dr. Connors, who was part of today’s announcement, says the initiatives are making a difference.
“I’m on the ward every single day, I see the people coming out of the operating room, I answer the telephone when people are at home waiting. The positive impacts that these changes have made are real and they’re felt.”
