Premier Andrew Furey says concerns surrounding the location of the replacement for St. Clare’s Mercy Hospital are pre-mature.
Last Friday, Minister John Abbott indicated that the old Grace Hospital site may not be big enough to house the new build. This prompted concern over the hospital leaving the downtown from many, including St. John’s City Council.
Now, however, Furey is clarifying they are nowhere near making that decision at this time.
He says they haven’t even set a process to determine where that site will be.
Furey clarifies that what Minister Abbott was referencing is that, if you were to simply overlay a hospital the size of the new Western Memorial Regional Hospital on the site, it would be too large.
