Breakfast is the most important meal of the day, and the Kids Eat Smart Foundation is working to ensure that every child can have a free breakfast with today’s Breakfast Blitz.
Celina Stoyles, Executive Director of the Kids Eat Smart Foundation in Newfoundland and Labrador says schools across the province are participating in the one-day Breakfast Blitz to help stock the cupboards of breakfast clubs and raise awareness.
She says the goal is to continue providing breakfast to every child at no cost to the child or their family. The Breakfast Blitz offers an opportunity for partners, donors, sponsors, community groups, and individuals to support breakfast clubs in their local areas.
Stoyles explains that there are a couple of different ways for those interested and able to get involved.
She says you can go online to www.kidseatsmart.ca to make a donation and designate it to a school in your area, or you can reach out to your local school to donate non-perishable food items and help restock the shelves that way.
Every dollar raised is a breakfast for a child.
