A 41-year-old man has been arrested and charged following an alleged home invasion in Carbonear Tuesday night.
The RCMP received a notification from a home security company just after 8 p.m. alerting them of a break and enter in progress and the homeowner in distress.
Police believe Wade Darren Smith entered the home through an unsecured door and made contact with the homeowner and their child.
Police say they were not physically injured and were able to escape the home.
The RCMP say Smith was found hiding inside the home, and that he gave false names to police.
The accused is now facing charges of break and enter, resisting/obstructing a police officer, and mischief – damage to property.
Smith will appear in court today.
