Nine community organizations will receive a share of $405,000 in government funding announced today.
The money is part of the National Action Plan to end Gender-based Violence, a four-year agreement between the federal government and the province.
The announcement was made at Thrive, which will receive $45,000 for the Coalition Against the Sexual Exploitation of Youth, or CASEY program, and another $36,000 to produce an awareness video for young people, parents, teachers and others about sexual exploitation in NL.
Thrive provides support and services to vulnerable people in the community by meeting them where they are.
Minister of Women and Gender Equality, Pam Parsons credits Executive Director Angela Crockwell and others with the organization for their work on the ground.
“They know, and they’re able to best inform us about what’s needed” says Parsons.
