Access to affordable housing topped the conversation in last week’s Labrador West Summit.

Area MHA Jordan Brown says housing is the solution to addressing other issues, like recruitment and retention of health care workers.

Brown says the area has seen growth in recent years, but has hit a plateau due to a lack of housing. He says they’re asking for government’s help to alleviate issues, such as the additional costs associated with building in Labrador.

They’re calling on the province to make additional funding available to the municipalities to develop the infrastructure needed, which would bring down the costs for developers and those looking to buy or rent.
