The number of reported cases of COVID and influenza in Newfoundland and Labrador are on the decline.
According to the province’s respiratory illness dashboard, there were 24 confirmed cases of COVID-19 from the reporting period ending on February 24—down from 44 cases reported a week prior.
There were seven hospitalizations, but no new deaths and no patients admitted to critical care.
Forty-three new cases of the flu were identified during that week, but that’s down considerably from 141 reported cases in the last week of January. Seven people were hospitalized during the last reporting period, with no admissions to critical care and no new deaths to report.
Government says the number of infections is below the projected levels for this time of year.
