The RCMP is reminding the public about the dangers of driving while being distracted by cell phones.
Corporal Jolene Garland says driving distracted is not only a danger to the driver, but to others as well.
RCMP say operating a vehicle requires a driver’s full attention and a driver who takes their eyes off the road, even for a second, compromises everyone’s safety.
The ticket for using a cell phone while driving comes with a minimum fine of $390 and four demerit points, while subsequent tickets can have fines as high as $1,300.
