Snowbanks will take a cutting, but expect flooding as heavy rain moves across eastern portions of the island overnight tonight.
Environment Canada meteorologist David Neil says rainfall warnings are in effect “from the Connaigre Peninsula east…and the entire Avalon Peninsula and Bonavista Peninsula.”
Rainfall totals will be the 30 to 50 mm range.
Winds will be high in many areas, picking up across the south and east coasts of island and gusting to 100 km/h.
Snowfall warnings are in place for the west coast and Northern Peninsula.
