Health Canada has issued a recall on certain air fryers because of fire and overheating hazards.
The recall involves Insignia™ digital air fryers, Insignia™ analog air fryers and Insignia™ digital dual basket air fryer.
Health Canada says the air fryers may overheat, and handles may melt or break posing a potential fire or burn hazard. Air fryer ovens may overheat and the glass on doors may break posing a fire, burn or laceration hazard.
As of February 20, the company had received six reports in Canada of handles melting or breaking and a single report of the glass breaking. There were no injuries.
Similar incidents were also reported in the United States. Consumers are asked to unplug the units and stop using the recalled products immediately.
