A teacher who taught at schools in this province will spend 18 months in jail on sex charges.
Thirty-seven-year-old Stephen Blackwood, originally from Moncton, worked as a substitute teacher in the metro area from 2013 to 2022.
Blackwood was arrested by police in New Brunswick in November 2022 after he was alleged to have videotaped children at hotel pools.
He was charged with sexual assault, sexual interference and assault.
RCMP say their investigation led to numerous allegations of sex crimes at Moncton area schools—some dating back to 2018.
In New Brunswick provincial court last week, he was sentenced to 18 additional months of jail time on top of his remand time, and 15 years probation with strict conditions upon release.
