The federal government will provide $40 million dollars for artillery ammunition for Ukraine.
The announcement was made at the 20th Ukraine Defense Contact Group meeting hosted by the US Secretary of Defense.
Representatives of 50 countries came together for the meeting, all of whom reaffirmed their commitment to providing Ukraine with what Ottawa calls the “critical military aid” that it needs.
Minister of Defense Bill Blair says Canada is committing over $40 million dollars to Czechia’s initiative to purchase large-calibre ammunition rounds for Ukraine.
Last month Canada signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Czechia establishing a framework for defense cooperation between the two countries.
