A hockey player from this province is on his way home from an international tournament with some new hardware.
Brandon Joy of Conception Bay South was the only player from this province to earn a spot on the Canadian National Blind Hockey Team that beat the U.S. for gold over the weekend.
Joy’s grandfather, Brian Joy, says Brandon had his heart set on making Team Canada for years, and he put in the work to get there.
A couple of years ago, Brandon told his father and grandfather that one day he would get to win a gold medal. Since then, Joy says he’s been to the gym every day, working with a personal trainer in efforts to improve. Joy is proud of his grandson.
