The Town of Conception Bay South has taken a number of measures that it hopes will “kick-start” affordable housing development.
The town hosted a Builders Forum on the weekend, inviting developers, realtors and others to come together to learn more about what the municipality is doing to attract greater development.
Mayor Darrin Bent calls it an important exercise.
“We do it annually,” says Bent “because they’re such an important part of our…economy.” He says “they pump millions of dollars of infrastructure” into the local economy each year.
The town has approved three new subdivisions while approvals in principle have been issued for nine more subdivisions. That equates to some 366 new lots and 64 apartment units.
