The Community Sector Council is pleased with the response to a Volunteer Fair held yesterday at the St. John’s Farmers’ Market.
The fair brought together volunteer organizations looking for help with people willing to lend their skills, interest and time.
Organizations have struggled for years as the pool of people willing to volunteer gets ever smaller.
Stephanie Abbott-Trahey of the CSC says it was encouraging to see the turnout yesterday.
“It’s so exciting, especially coming out of a global pandemic, when what we’ve been hearing…from organizations is that the number of volunteers are fewer (and) the needs are greater,” Abbott-Trahey told VOCM News. That’s why “seeing people of all different ages and backgrounds come out today feels amazing.”
