Getting students interested in pursuing a career in health is among the province’s strategies in helping to fill gaps in the local health care sector.
That’s where Med Quest comes in. Memorial University’s program is deigned to get high school students interested in a career in health care.
Associate Dean of Educational Development and Professor of Oncology at MUN’s Faculty of Medicine, Dr. Kara Laing says students are introduced to a variety of professions.
That includes medicine, nursing, pharmacy, physical therapy and occupational therapy. The students have a chance to “interact with faculty in this area and really understand the opportunities for them, and what it’s like to do the jobs that we do.”
