A man is facing a number of charges after an armed robbery of a taxi driver in Gander.
Around 4 yesterday morning, RCMP responded after a cabbie reported being threatened with a sharp object by a passenger who was demanding cash. The man, who did not pay his fare, took off with a small amount of cash.
The driver was not injured.
Police identified the suspect as 29-year-old Carson Coates, who is facing charges of robbery with a weapon, possession of a weapon dangerous to the public, carrying a concealed weapon, breach of probation and breach of a prohibition order.
He appeared in court this afternoon.
