There is a heavy military presence in Paris, France ahead of the 2024 Summer Olympics, set to formally get underway tomorrow.

VOCM show host Tim Powers, who is also a volunteer member of the Canadian Olympic Committee, is in Paris for the global event.

He says the city is under “tight security control.”

He says all of the rivers have been shut down and he has seen military personnel around with machine guns. Despite that, Powers says people in the city are excited for the games.

Opening ceremonies get underway tomorrow.
