Many are calling it a new low.
The provincial government has launched an investigation into a troubling situation that recently unfolded at the Janeway Children’s Hospital.
Janine Dawe took to Facebook on the weekend to report that the room next to the ICU where her child has been staying was ransacked by “three men in off the streets.”
According to Dawe, the men removed items they wanted and threw away or ruined the items they weren’t interested in.
How the three men were able to enter the hospital, remove material and cause damage is something that Health Minister Lela Evans says government is currently investigating.
The issue was raised during Question Period by Opposition health critic, Lisa Dempster.
Minister Evans says an active investigation, including the security company responsible for the Health Sciences Complex is underway, and “we’re going to address this.”
Dawe did not contact police about the incident, but the RNC were contacted by security at the Health Sciences early this morning.
Officials asked police to remove a young person from the hospital, but whether or not the young man in question was involved in the incident described is not clear.
No charges have been laid at this time.
