The RNC understands that frustrations are high, but they’re warning the public against taking a vigilante-style approach to the growing incidence of theft in the region.
Many businesses have resorted to installing more robust security measures to address the issue, including hiring security guards and installing barriers and cameras.
Still, the increasingly brazen nature of theft in the region is leading to greater frustration for business owners, employees and the public at large.
RNC Constable James Cadigan says he understands that frustration, but urges people to call police and report crimes when they see them happening.
“We live in a country where due process is the route to ensure accountability in these scenarios.” By taking matters into your own hands says Cadigan “you may actually put yourself in peril, and that’s the last thing we want.”
