Multiple roads through the province are gripping the aftermath of rainfall that washed out roadways.
A major artery ahead of Clarenville is closed due to what NL 511 calls “flooding/culvert washout,” from Friday’s rain. They’re asking drivers to find an alternate route near Ivany’s Cove.
Meanwhile, on Highway 363 near Mose Ambrose, a washout has compromised some of the pavement. The road has been reduced to one lane until work can be completed.
On the Avalon, the province said “cancellation may be possible,” on the Bell Island ferry due to weather conditions.
Just last night, Clarenville RCMP was kept busy due to flooding on the Burin Peninsula Highway at North Harbour. The river breached the roadway to a depth of at least six inches, bringing a significant hazard for traffic.
As of yesterday morning, more than 80mm of rain slammed through the south coast of the province alone.
