There will be no tax increases for residents of Portugal Cove-St. Philips in the coming year.
The town approved its 2025 budget this week – maintaining services, and continuing a 20 per cent property tax discount for those in receipt of Guaranteed Income Support.
The town has allotted $1.1 million in funding for 1.5 km of sidewalk work. Construction of 2.7 km of walking trail along the Broad Cove River and the installation of solar lighting in Voisey’s Brook Park will go ahead as part of their Trails Masterplan.
The town is also continuing its Septic Pumping Rebate pilot program, increasing the amount available from $20,000 to $30,000 total, while two new garbage trucks with hydraulic arms will be leased.
Water and sewer work along Indian Meal Line is also expected in the coming year – cost-shared with the provincial government.
