It was a warm one in the province yesterday with some records being set.
Rodney Barney, a meteorologist at the Gander Weather Office, says Cartwright got up to 14.0 degrees, making it the warmest December day ever, breaking the old mark of 13.7 in 2023. Goose Bay hit 12.8 degrees yesterday, over half-a-degree warmer than any other December day in history.
The mercury climbed to 16.3 degrees in St. John’s yesterday afternoon, making it the fifth warmest December day in metro in history.
