The New Year came in with a rumble for residents in and around Notre Dame Bay.
A mild, 2.8 magnitude tremblor was recorded near Virgin Arm on New World Island shortly after 2:00 yesterday afternoon.
The earthquake originated about 1 km below the surface. A quake of that magnitude is very mild, and it’s possible that some residents may not have noticed.
