A traffic stop on a possible impaired driver in Clarenville last week yielded a bit more than expected.
RCMP hauled the pickup over on the Trans Canada over the lunch hour on Friday.
Officers not only noticed signs of impairment from the driver, but also caught a glimpse of a firearm inside the vehicle.
The firearm was seized. The 65-year-old was taken to the detachment where he provided breath samples over the legal limit.
He faces charges of impaired and unsafe storage of a firearm. He was released to appear in court at a later date.
