Greyhound Pets NL is questioning the “fleeting value” of fireworks displays, against the risks and harms caused, particularly to household pets.
The concerns are being raised in light of what the organization says is the untimely death of an otherwise healthy greyhound in Paradise that they say succumbed due to stress caused by fireworks.
Many municipalities already have regulations in place limiting the use of fireworks to twice a year – New Year’s and Canada Day – or during other special cultural events by special permit.
