Most of Canada’s northern regions are under an extreme cold warning.
Environment Canada has frigid arctic temperatures forecast from northern Alberta to right across most of the country.
In Newfoundland, it will be a combination of rain and wind until things go in the opposite direction Tuesday when temperatures drop quickly.
Veronica Sullivan, a meteorologist at the Gander Weather Office, says the rain will start first in the west and then spread to the metro overnight.

Then, it will turn cold.
Wind chills will be in the minus 20 to minus 30 across much of the island. Parts of Labrador could end up with a wind chill factor of below minus 45.
Central Labrador has a heavy snowfall warning for Monday, while southern areas will get rain.
