The Town of Conception Bay South is getting a new multi-use sports facility.
Premier Andrew Furey, Infrastructure Minister Fred Hutton, and CBS Deputy Mayor Andrea Gosse announced the project yesterday.
Dubbed the Community Lifestyle Centre, the cost of the $16-million facility will be split 50-50 between the province and the town.
It will be an air-supported dome-like structure that will include multi-use courts, a large turf field, and dedicated community spaces.
Sports that will be played at the centre include basketball, volleyball, pickleball, soccer, football, baseball, softball and ultimate frisbee.

The centre will also include another building that will house office spaces, washrooms, changerooms, and a community room.
Deputy Mayor Gosse says given that they are going with the air-supported structure, she is hopeful that they can have the facility up-and-running by next year.
She says those kinds of structures can be built very quickly, and it is “very doable to have this commissioned for 2026.”
