National pride increased among many Canadians while tensions around US tariffs were at an all-time high earlier this week, according to a new poll from the Angus Reid Institute.
The Institute conducted an online survey about national pride on Sunday and Monday, a time when Canada was making its final push for the Trump administration to reconsider imposing 25 per cent tariffs on Canadian goods.
Of the over 1,800 respondents, 44 per cent say they’re “very proud” of Canada, a 10-point jump from the last survey in December.
Elsewhere, 23 per cent say they’re “proud” of the country, a marginal decrease from the last survey, 18 per cent indicated they are “somewhat proud” compared to 21 per cent two months ago, nine per cent say they’re “not very proud” – a three per cent decrease and only four per cent say they’re “not proud at all” a two per cent drop from December.
