The opposition PC’s say Premier Furey’s “buy local” campaign should have been a priority long before tariff threats from the U.S.
The provincial government unveiled its new buy local campaign last week, including advertising across various mediums, as well as downloadable materials that business owners can use to promote local products.
MHA Pleaman Forsey says that farmers are facing more barriers because of the provincial government, noting that because the province doesn’t have a slaughterhouse, producers are struggling to get into grocery chains.
He called Furey’s campaign an “afterthought” by the provincial government, stating we should be prioritizing local food producers instead of outside companies.
