The award-winning Come From Away musical is ending its seven-year run in Toronto.
Considered to be one of the most successful musicals ever put off at the Royal Alexandra Theatre, the show tells the story of the extraordinary hospitality extended to thousands of so-called ‘plane people’ by the residents of Gander in the wake of the terrorist attacks on September 11th, 2001.
Mirvish, the company behind the Toronto production, announced the show’s final extension this week, closing on May 4th.
The musical made its debut on Broadway in 2017 and subsequently moved to Toronto for a sit-down performance beginning in March 2018. That run continued until the COVID-19 pandemic closed theatres in 2020.
A slightly pared-down version of the musical has been delighting sold-out audiences in Gander for the last few summer seasons.
