A GoFundMe fundraiser has been started for the Boys and Girls Club in St. Anthony which lost its building to fire last month.
The historic building was used to provide services ranging from after school programming to a variety of recreational programs to some 100 children in the region.
Shawnee Hillier, the fundraising co-ordinator of the BGC in St. Anthony and Area says they’re overwhelmed with the support to-date, and while they have been able to keep some programming going with the help of a variety of local businesses and organizations, the ultimate goal is a new home for the BGC.
“Ultimately, we want a new building,” says Hillier, “government has promised us a rebuild, but, even if we were to break ground tomorrow, that still would be a two to three year project for the type of building we would need.” In the short-term, they’re just looking for a space suitable for their needs.
