The provincial government has offered an update on new snow-clearing equipment in the House of Assembly.
Tourism Minister Steve Crocker rose in the house yesterday to respond to a question asked earlier this week by the member for Fogo Island-Cape Freels.
As of last month, 15 of the 24 new truck plows had been delivered to depots throughout the province and are now in operation, with the other nine in the process of being brought into service. More plows are arriving weekly.
Crocker told the House “there is some more work that needs to be done before it can be put into service” Crocker told the House of Assembly, “but I can assure every member in this house, this is the largest purchase of heavy equipment, of snow plows, in the province’s history and we are committed to a five-year plan to renew our fleet.”
