Users of the social media platform X, formerly known as Twitter, will have noticed an outage earlier this week after the platform was hit by a group of online hackers known as Dark Star.
Tech blogger Kevin Andrews says the group is a pro-Palestinian group known for launching cyberattacks on sites by flooding them with information until they crash.
The group says their latest attack on X was in protest against Elon Musk and President Donald Trump’s “lack of humanity”.
Andrews says the good news for users is that the group wasn’t out to access anyone’s personal data and more or less just wanted to create chaos.
