A man who tried to cash in on the five-finger-discount at a shop in Galway didn’t get too far.

Police were called to the store just before 9:00 last night to reports of a man shoplifting.

The 43-year-old was arrested and charged with theft under $5,000. He was released to appear in court at a later date.
