A man is in the lockup after another was assaulted with a weapon in the east end of St. John’s.

The incident happened at about 8:00.

The RNC say the 29-year-old suspect had left the area in vehicle prior to their arrival, however he returned while officers were still on the scene.

He was taken into custody to await assault and weapons charges. Police did not elaborate on the type of weapon used.
