There will be two significant road closures in the metro area this coming weekend.
One involves the Outer Ring Road, while the other concerns the Robert E. Howlett Goulds bypass road.
The Outer Ring Road from Kenmount Road to Logy Bay Road will be shut down this coming Sunday, May 25, from 7 a.m. until 7 p.m. for the annual spring garbage cleanup.
Signage will be up and crews on hand to redirect traffic.
But Mayor Danny Breen can tell you where it’s going and the related risks.
“That means that that traffic is pushed into the city and there is always a tremendous amount of traffic on that day,” he said. “So we ask people to please be patient, please don’t speed, and that’s not just in one section of town — that’s downtown, uptown, east, west, everywhere you’re going to see a heavier amount of traffic, so please take your time.”
Meanwhile, the Robert E. Howlett Goulds bypass road will be closed Saturday from Ruby Line to Doyles Road as crews remove the Cochrane Pond bridge.
Ward councillor Carl Ridgeley says the bridge itself will remain closed for a period of time, but he’s not sure for how long.
